overview
Wickes needed a sustainable in-store display to extend its “Be House Proud with Wickes” campaign into retail spaces. The solution was a large, freestanding 3D house standee designed to be visually striking, durable, and easy to update with seasonal messaging. Built from recyclable materials, it provided a flexible, reusable centrepiece that reinforced the campaign across store environments.
challenges
The project needed to balance creativity with practicality in a busy retail environment, delivering a display that was visually striking, robust, adaptable, and easy for store teams to manage. It had to translate TV and digital campaign creative into an in-store experience while remaining stable as a large freestanding structure.
The solution also needed to support seasonal updates, withstand up to three months in a high-traffic store environment, and be fully sustainable using recyclable materials. It was essential that the design allowed for simple assembly and disassembly, while keeping structural supports hidden without compromising visibility from any angle.
requirements
-
Durable design to with-stand 3 month in-store lifecycle
-
Freestanding, stable structure with 360° visibility
-
Flexible design to allow seasonal and promotional updates
-
Modular design to support updates to interior and exterior graphics
-
Maximum simplicity for store teams
solutions
A large 3D house structure was developed as the central display concept, featuring “Be House Proud with Wickes” prominently on the front. The design incorporated key visual assets from the TV campaign to ensure consistency across all channels.
To maximise flexibility, interchangeable scenic elements were built into the structure, allowing components such as hedges, fencing, decking, and grass to be swapped or overlaid depending on seasonal requirements. The house also included functional openable sections, enabling interior window graphics to be updated as campaigns evolved.
3D framing, window sills, and layered detailing were added to increase depth and visual interest, while maintaining full visibility from all sides. End-of-aisle graphics echoed the same lifestyle imagery to reinforce the campaign across the store environment.

solutions
The structure was engineered using multiple grades of corrugated board to ensure strength, stability, and recyclability. Boxboard and display board materials were used for interchangeable and decorative elements, ensuring all components could be disposed of within a single recycling stream.
To address in-store practicality, the design was engineered for simplicity, breaking down into just six assembly steps. Structural supports were carefully hidden within the design to maintain the illusion of a fully freestanding house while ensuring safety and stability throughout its lifecycle.

outcome
The final 3D house standee successfully delivered a high-impact, flexible retail activation that brought the “Be House Proud with Wickes” campaign into the store environment. It provided Wickes with a reusable promotional asset capable of showcasing multiple seasonal offers simultaneously while maintaining strong brand consistency across channels.
The solution met all key objectives: it was sustainable, durable, visually striking, and easy for store teams to assemble and update. Its modular design enabled ongoing content changes throughout the promotional period, giving Wickes greater agility in their in-store marketing and a strong competitive advantage during peak trading periods.
