How Kolorcraft supported Marie Curie for National Day of Reflection
Here at Kolorcraft we are proud to support so many wonderful charities with their goals. On March 23rd 2022 we supported the wonderful Marie Curie with their National Day Of Reflection.
In 2021, the first National Day of Reflection garnered widespread support and connected the entire nation in grief in the first event of its kind. This year, high-profile individuals, including Sir Ranulph Fiennes, Alison Steadman, Jim Carter, Greg Wise, Mel Giedroyc, Levi Roots, Julia Samuel, and over 200 organisations, pledged their support for the day.
Legendary explorer, Sir Ranulph Fiennes said:
“When Marie Curie marked the National Day of Reflection for the first-time last year, it gave everyone the opportunity to come together after what had been an incredibly challenging time, when we had been so detached from one another. With the loss suffered during the pandemic etched in our hearts, this day continues to hold the same significance for millions of people who have been bereaved.”
How Kolorcraft were involved?
Here at Kolorcraft we saw many of our own staff struggle during the pandemic, that is why we felt it was so important to support other communities by helping Marie Curie create spaces where people can come together.
We printed, packed and dispatched 1,400 wall of reflection packs at no cost to all Marie Curie store in preparation for National Day of Reflection to honour and remember loved ones who died during the pandemic.
Although, all of this would not be possible without the support from DHL Express who kindly delivered packs to 132 stores across the UK!
Michell Martin, Marie Curie's Director of Development and Communities said
“I would like to extend our thanks to the Kolorcraft Group for their generous support in producing and donating, 1,400 professionally printed Wall of Reflection kits which contain everything you need to create a Wall of Reflection, and our thanks also to their courier partner DHL who delivered them to all 132 of our Marie Curie Shops.”

How to get involved?
To take part in this and future National Days of Reflection, Marie Curie encourage people to visit mariecurie.org.uk/dayofreflection and join one or more activities on the day:
- Join a minute of silence at midday wearing your Marie Curie daffodil pin
- Shine a light at 8pm, or display flowers in your windows
- Join one of seven online Marie Curie organised talks and panel discussions
- Visit a Wall of Reflection or remember a loved one in your own way
In 2022, a new interactive online map displayed a UK-wide network of Walls of Reflection where people can go to remember loved ones they’ve lost, and where the local community can come together to support those grieving.
Prominent buildings and landmarks light up yellow at night to mark the National Day of Reflection. In 2021, over 100 buildings lit up, including Smeaton’s Tower in Plymouth, and Ness Bridge in Inverness.
“It’s clear from the outstanding engagement and reaction we saw to the National Day of Reflection last year that the day was very much needed and profoundly resonated with people up and down the UK.
“And while life may be beginning to return to normal for some of us, let’s not forget there are still millions of people living with the deep trauma of losing a loved one during the pandemic. Grief doesn’t have a lifespan. We need to come together, once again, to reflect on the lives of the people we’ve lost and support those who are grieving.
“The last two years have reminded us how much harder grief is when you are isolated from those you care about and those who support you.”
